To many Bethesda Gardens residents, Debbie Morton is simply “Chef.” Chef Debbie brings a lifetime of culinary heritage and years of experience leading culinary teams in senior living and elsewhere to her kitchen at Bethesda Gardens.
“My family is the driving motivation behind a lifetime of flavorful favorites, from home cooking to exquisite cuisine,” she says. “I have a huge family, and food and cooking has always been a central part of our family gatherings.”
Debbie began her career working in a prestigious restaurant at a beautiful hillside country club. “Even then, I loved our older clients,” she explains. “I love working with the senior population. It reminds me of all the days I spent with my grandparents. It is a feeling of being home again.”
But Debbie didn’t start her career presenting flavorful meals and menus for seniors. She spent ten years directing activities, as a certified nurse aid, and a medication tech. Prior to joining Bethesda, she led culinary services for two other senior communities. At Bethesda Gardens, she feels she’s found her home.
“I believe in taking something good and making it GREAT!” she says. “We have a wonderful vision for what community looks like, and I love that I get to help residents grow and flourish!”
